Inspiration

We were inspired by the challenges people face when trying to understand complex Images and legal documents. Many find it overwhelming to interpret pictures and e-contract, missing critical risks and obligations. By combining an arcade-inspired theme with AI-powered analysis, we wanted to make understanding agreements feel as easy and enjoyable as playing a classic 8-bit game.

What it does

8-Bit Mavericks is a 3D arcade-style platform that simplifies contracts and agreements by using AI to summarize and analyze them. Users navigate through "game levels" that represent different sections of a contract, uncovering key terms, potential risks, and other insights in a fun, interactive way. It’s designed to make understanding legal documents both engaging and accessible.

How we built it

  1. Frontend Development: We used Three.js to create an immersive 3D arcade interface where users can explore contract sections in a gamified environment.
  2. AI Integration: Leveraging NLP models, we developed features that allow for contract summarization, risk assessment, and sentiment analysis of key clauses.
  3. Database and Backend: Using Google Cloud AI to convert PDF contract to text, and set up real-time data retrieval for AI processing, enabling quick and accurate analysis.
  4. UI/UX Design: We focused on making the interface user-friendly and intuitive, applying gamification techniques to create a seamless arcade experience.

Challenges we ran into

We encountered several challenges along the way. The first was making sure our AI models accurately identified and summarized important contract elements. Legal language is highly nuanced, so we had to refine our models to ensure reliable outputs. Additionally, integrating 3D visuals into a responsive web design presented unique technical challenges, requiring significant optimization to ensure smooth user interactions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re incredibly proud of creating a unique, engaging tool that makes complex information accessible. From the successful integration of 3D elements to achieving a balance between simplicity and depth in our AI functions, we believe 8-Bit Mavericks represents a fresh approach to simplify legal documents. We’re especially proud of how our platform turns a traditionally dry process into a genuinely enjoyable experience.

What we learned

This project taught us valuable skills in AI, game design, and UX/UI principles. We deepened our understanding of natural language processing and risk analysis, learned how to optimize for 3D web performance, and gained insight into balancing gamification with functionality. Most importantly, we learned that tech innovation can truly enhance accessibility and understanding.

What's next for 8-Bit-Mavericks

Looking ahead, we aim to expand the platform’s capabilities to handle more complex agreements and explore integrations with e-signature and contract management platforms. We also plan to refine the AI to provide even more detailed risk analysis and develop additional levels that dive deeper into contract types and user-specific insights. Our goal is to make 8-Bit Mavericks a go-to tool for simplifying legal documents in a fun, interactive way.
