Inspiration

In today's information-rich society, the continuous surge of available information has also led to an increasing spread of misinformation, myths, and unverified claims. For instance, the Covid-19 pandemic highlighted this issue vividly, with false claims about treatments and vaccines proliferating widely on social media.

What it does

Traditional fact-checking methods are manual and labour-intensive, relying heavily on human experts. Our solution automates this process by by replicating workflows of the expert fact-checkers. By automating research and verification, we provide rapid, reliable responses to user-submitted claims.

How we built it

By harnessing the powerful reasoning capabilities of OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini multimodal, and employing a thoughtfully crafted agentic workflow, we equip our agents with essential tools, including GoogleSearchAPI, PubMedAPI and ArxivAPI. These tools enable agents to gather up-to-date information efficiently. Additionally, we developed a streamlined and user-friendly frontend using React.js and Vite, alongside a robust backend powered by FastAPI and SpringBoot, enabling users to effortlessly submit claims and receive rapid responses.

What's next for 74 - Fact Finder

Moving forward, we aim to enhance our chatbot to allow direct, dynamic interactions with users. Additionally, we plan to integrate our system into popular messaging platforms like Telegram and WhatsApp, further improving accessibility and user convenience.
