Over 67 million businesses on LinkedIn face challenges in harnessing their full networking potential. These challenges include limited visibility of their networks, inability to share networking data seamlessly, and cumbersome processes for referrals and introductions.

6degrees helps you to see your network in a different light.

It does this by providing social capital intelligence that empowers businesses and professionals to achieve their business goals by leveraging the power of their network.

The name comes from the idea that all people are six or fewer social connections away from each other. As a result, a chain of "friend of a friend" statements can be made to connect any two people in a maximum of six steps.

Although 6degrees has tangible business outcomes and value, 6degrees exists to drive humanity forward through collaboration.

What it does

By integrating your goals with your network information through a CSV upload, 6degrees provides a strategic analysis of your connections. It suggests actionable steps to use your network to its fullest potential, facilitating business growth, strengthening partnerships, and enhancing talent acquisition. This platform simplifies the process of identifying and utilizing valuable connections in your network to achieve specific business outcomes.

How we built it

Our team developed 6degrees using Streamlit, creating a user-friendly, low-code application. We cleaned the LinkedIn data and enriched it with Gemini’s internal knowledge through custom prompts. A 'super agent' prompt interprets user requests into actionable analysis tasks, which are processed by a bespoke agent built with LangChain and Vertex API, delivering precise and useful insights.

Challenges we ran into

Our main hurdles included the reliable enrichment of LinkedIn data to extract maximum value, defining the scope of analysis tasks within the constraints of available data, and meticulously evaluating the output from our analysis agents to ensure they met our high standards for accuracy and relevance.

What we learned

This project taught us the significance of precise data handling and the challenges of AI in real-world applications. We also learned that effective communication within the team and iterative testing are key to developing practical and reliable technological solutions.

What's next for 6degrees

Our upcoming plans involve expanding the depth and breadth of our network database to include detailed information on companies, education, and skills of users' connections. We are also set to enhance our platform's capabilities by introducing innovative network metrics that integrates various data points, such as job tenure and educational qualifications. Furthermore, we will streamline the process for users to share their network insights and facilitate valuable introductions, thereby significantly enhancing their professional and business opportunities.

Additionally, our project has already generated considerable interest, with 27 potential users on our waiting list and five letters of intent from businesses keen on collaborating. In light of this momentum, we are preparing to initiate a pre-seed funding round to further fuel our development and market entry.
