About the Project

The idea for 6days was inspired by my own experience as an international student in Korea. Many students often felt isolated, unsure of how to join events, or hesitant to approach student clubs and associations.

Besides, in Korea, local students can easily join various clubs outside campus, through existing apps, but for foreigners, these platforms are difficult to use because almost everything is in Korean. This creates a barrier to participation and leaves many international students missing out on valuable opportunities.

6days was built to break this barrier by providing a bilingual, accessible platform that helps students connect with clubs, events, and communities without language being an obstacle.

Inspiration

  • I noticed how difficult it was for new students to discover events without knowing Korean well.
  • Friends often told me they wished there was “one place” to find clubs and apply easily.
  • I wanted to solve the problem of being abroad but feeling stuck at home.

How I Built It

  • Prototyping: Used ChatAndBuild to scaffold the initial structure quickly.
  • Frontend: Built with React / Next.js, styled using TailwindCSS for a modern, responsive UI.
  • Backend: Integrated with Supabase/Firebase for authentication, real-time data, and database management.
  • Deployment: ChatAndBuild

What I Learned

  • The importance of user-centered design when creating apps for diverse student communities.
  • How to integrate authentication and database services smoothly.
  • Time management and iterating quickly with prototypes before polishing features.
  • Figuring out the best solution to solve social and cultural challenges.

Challenges

  • Language barrier: Existing Korean apps are not foreigner-friendly, so building a bilingual platform was essential.
  • Cultural differences: Designing a system intuitive for both local and international students.
  • Feature scope: Deciding what to include in the MVP versus later versions.
  • Real-time updates: Handling event and club information efficiently and scalably.

To imagine the impact of 6days, think of every student as a point on a map. Each time two students meet, a line is drawn between them.

At first, there are only a few lines. But the more opportunities students have to join events, clubs, or associations, the faster these lines multiply. Soon, a dense web of connections forms such as friendships, collaborations, and communities.

The mission of 6days is to accelerate this web-building, making it easy for students (especially internationals) to meet, connect, and grow together.

In short, 6days is about making every day abroad count, not just academically, but socially and personally.
