Inspiration
Sixdegrees.com was the first social media website ever (founded in 1997), and it was built on the idea that everyone is connected. 67degrees is not a social media website, but it was inspired by the spirit of sixdegrees.com.
What it does
67° is an AI-powered relationship intelligence system that: Takes any two public figures (actors, scientists, politicians, etc.) Generates a multi-step connection path between them Explains why each connection exists (not just who is connected)
How we built it
We built 67° using: Django (Backend API): Handles user queries and manages graph construction logic Google Gemini API: Performs relationship inference between entities using contextual reasoning Wikipedia API: provides images Frontend (HTML/CSS/JavaScript): Visualizes connection paths as an interactive graph AWS Deployment: Hosted backend and managed production deployment and configuration challenges
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was deploying the application to AWS.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
None of us had ever worked on a project where collaboration was so important, and we've learned a lot in managing conflicting code bases and programming practices.
What we learned
None of the people in our team had worked with Django or the Google Gemini API.
