Inspiration

Track 6 asked for the dumbest idea. We made a sport where you wave at your webcam and get points for it. We called it 67 Slop because it is, objectively, slop.

What it does

Show one or both hands to the camera, then lift and lower them to score reps before the timer runs out. Pick a 15-, 30-, or 60-second round. Hit six or seven and a tiny unicorn celebrates you. The leaderboard saves scores in your browser on this device, because apparently even pointless sports need records.

How we built it

We built the game with JavaScript and Vite. MediaPipe tracks hand landmarks in the browser, and the game uses their movement to count reps. Local storage remembers your name, best score, and leaderboard. The camera feed stays in the browser and isn’t uploaded.

Challenges we ran into

Hand tracking jitters, so a hand can appear to move when it hasn’t. We added smoothing and a short stillness calibration, then tuned the lift and return thresholds so the game wouldn’t count every wobble as a rep.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

We turned a deliberately silly idea into a working webcam game, complete with a timer, local leaderboard, and a floating unicorn at six and seven. It’s playable, the rules fit in one sentence, and it takes itself exactly as seriously as it should.

What we learned

Hand landmarks are noisy, and camera-based movement needs careful calibration. We also learned that adding a tiny unicorn is a valid product decision.

What’s next for 67 Slop

Make tracking even more forgiving, add more ridiculous celebrations, and decide whether this sport needs an online leaderboard. It probably doesn’t.
