Inspiration
The original iteration of this song was a more comedic piece ("Lead Solder Boy") written over the summer. It was later rewritten as a more serious song in late October while experimenting with Suno v5. The song itself was inspired by someone who is frequently teased about OSHA violations while working with electronics.
How we built it
The video was all generated in the AI music video tool Color42.ai, which has built-in support for lipsync and character consistency for multiple characters, making it great for music videos. Post-production was done in Final Cut Pro, which mostly consisted of a few transitions and the addition of title text. The music was made using a song generation and remixing process, done entirely in Suno, then later shortened to a "radio edit" length for the music video.
Challenges we ran into
This video was meant to be a creative challenge, with lots of dream-like action sequences and style/scene consistency to account for in prompting. There were also technical challenges with using AI to generate sequences relating to specialized processes like soldering (which resulted in a lot of rejected shots that looked like welding).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The subtle lip sync scenes: getting a really subtle and consistent look and feel across these segments felt like a huge accomplishment.
