5 to Six

Inspiration:

Having to stay at home because of Covid 19 and not being able to go to school, during this last school term, a few questions emerged from talking to families: How do I know if my child is ready to go to primary school? How can I promote my child development to be prepared to go to primary school? What are the academic requirements that must be met? These is an important transition in the educational process, an if this is difficult in a normal situation, is a lot more stressful in Covid 19 time. The lack of preschool preparation can increase learning disabilities and became a stressful experience in first year of primary school.

5 to Six is a tool that we are creating to help parent tackle this problem.

5 to Six enables parents and children to work together in getting ready to take the challenge of this first year primary school with confidence and knowledge.

What it does:

It is a mobile app that allows you to assess and promotes academic prerequisites in terms of reading, writing and math necessary for the first year of primary school.

How we built it:

A mobile app that allows the assessment of neurodevelopment in the domains of reading, writing and math and, based on the result, it allows viewing a development profile and identifying areas in deficit, advising games to be carried out to stimulate these abilities.

The preschool assessment - consist in a parental form in witch are assess tree domains: Language and Reading; Writing; Math. With the assessment profile of the child the App will advice specific games and tasks to promote the success development.

The Games and Task - this App domain consists of a set of games and tasks scientifically conceived of the goals and prerequisites that are essential for successful academic learning; This games and tasks are are built by a multidisciplinary team specialized in the areas of psychology, speech therapy and psychomotricity.

Think of a solution that can answer a need that children and parents have, and that can helps to decrease the stress and anxiety in the Covid 19 period. we also are very proud of our logo.

What we learned:.

We learn a lot during this weekend, with the mentors information, with the help of others participants, and with the webinar that you display. Also the motivation that we could do something to fight the covid.

We have been learning a lot with this Hackathon by connecting with other people

What's next for 5 to Six:.

We will establish a collaboration with the Science University (with witch we collaborate already) in Portugal to develop the software and with LógicaMentes - Neurodevelopment Clinic for games creation Launch the app in June 2020.
