Our project was inspired by a heartwarming news story about a bus driver from Jefferson County Public Schools who bought pajamas for a student in need who would be the only kid without pajamas during Pajama Day. This act of kindness resonated with us, especially as a group of minority members who personally relate to the struggles of financial hardship and the importance of community support. We wanted to create a platform that extends this spirit of generosity, enabling mothers to find support within their communities. Our platform connects women who need essential items with individuals and companies willing to donate, creating a supportive and generous community. Women can post specific needs—such as clothing, household essentials, or even school supplies for their children—and others can browse these requests to fulfill them. The platform allows for direct donations from both individuals and businesses, fostering a culture of giving back while reducing financial strain. Working with Raspberry Pi for the first time was a significant challenge for us. Setting up the hardware and integrating our frontend required a steep learning curve as we navigated new technical processes. We’re incredibly proud of creating a platform that brings real impact to the community, inspired by a genuine act of kindness. We didn't know each other prior to this event, so coming together as a team with little time available to make this project is a significant accomplishment. In the future, we will implement a way for companies to become donors, ranking items by the most often requested ("hottest items"), and seasonal needs (for Back to School, Christmas, Easter, etc.).
