Inspiration

This project was born because we thought it would be cool. We wanted to create something fun and silly, and what better way to do that then to make an irl game where you, the player can unlock your inner empath and feel what it's like to get shot! Explore the real world of 3rd Person IRL, where you can engage with this unique and immersive experience!

What it does

3rd Person IRL displays a third-person view of the world around the player and gives them enemy cowboys to fight with the player. If the bullets of the cowboys hit the player, the region of the player's body that was hit will be shocked with a tens machine.

How we built it

We built this project with:

  • Unity as our main game engine for the gameplay and enemies
  • A modified USB4Android project to display the feed of the web camera in the Unity project

Challenges we ran into

  • Camera Integration Issues We had some hiccups with connecting our web camera to the Meta Quest and properly getting the live feed to display

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We all learned something about Unity
  • Successfully overcoming technical hurdles with
  • Modifying the USB4Android plugin was a ton of work, but ended up working out

What we learned

  • Prefabs of NPCs
  • Scripting in C#
  • Understanding interaction with Android based systems
  • Applying specific permissions to Quest apps

What's next for 3rd Person IRL

Implementing more features within the Meta All-In-One SDK to improve the pre-existing functionality of the game, and adding more polish to the enemies and user interface.
