📖 1. The Inspiration (Why We Built It)

Traditional Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) are sterile, complex, and isolated. Prototyping music, especially Afrobeat and Afro-fusion genres rich with polyrhythms and distinct vocal arrangements, requires a high level of collaborative flow.

We built 3WM SONIK to transform the DAW from a passive grid of buttons into a living, breathing cinematic studio. Guided by the mythological concept of the Three Wise Men, 3WM SONIK introduces three highly specialized, distinct musical intelligences that live inside your production workspace. They don't just chat—they analyze, play instruments, design drums, arrange harmonies, mix, and master your music directly alongside you.

🛠️ 2. What It Does (Core Features)

3WM SONIK is a complete, production-grade, installable Progressive Web Application (PWA) that houses a suite of advanced studio rooms:

  • The Beat Lab & 808 Studio: A 16-step polyrhythmic sequencer and deep-bass synthesis laboratory.
  • The Recording Booth & Vocal Studio: Multi-track, punch-in recording with automated vocal arrangement recommendations.
  • The Cinematic Mixer & Mastering Suite: Precise audio signal channel strips and LUFS-calibrated brick-wall limiting and dithering.
  • The Triad Agent Council: A dedicated environment where the three specialized agents engage in consensus debates to suggest arrangement, EQ, and mixing choices.
  • Real-Time Multiplayer Collaboration: Powered by Supabase and Yjs, multiple producers can collaborate with synchronized transport states, live cursors, and inline comments.
  • Global Multi-Rail Payments: Integrates Stripe Enterprise (global credit cards, KYC Identity, fraud detection) and Paystack Live (direct African bank transfers, USSD, and Mobile Money) to facilitate seamless, localized subscription billing and automated 85%/15% royalty splits for global creators.

The intelligence layer of 3WM SONIK is powered by the Google Gemini API and orchestrated via a custom-designed Google Antigravity SDK multi-agent coordination layer.

  • The Scientist — Kappachino Emar (Mint): Powered by Gemini, Emar understands music as a mathematical and signal-processing system. He calculates EQ parameters, models compressors, and designs mastering curves.
  • The Sound God — Kappachino Ricky (Gold): Ricky is pure rhythm. He focuses on sound design, 808 synthesis, dynamic grooves, and polyrhythmic drum patterns.
  • The Vocal Oracle — Kingpin (Fire): Kingpin handles vocal arrangements, harmonies, and text-to-speech guidance, powered by custom ElevenLabs voice models.
  • The Orchestrator (Consensus & Tooling): Routes intents to specialized agents, requests consensus, and manages the shared world model. The agents possess over 40+ validated schema tools to write and modify the shared Firestore project state, generating reversible undo/redo snapshots.

⚡ 4. Challenges We Overcame

  1. API Budget & Abuse Protection: Opening voice and text generation to public landing pages can cause catastrophic budget drain. We built a robust ioredis-backed sliding-window rate-limiter (20 requests / 5 minutes) and a daily global budget guard (500 calls / day) that gracefully downgrades to browser-native Web Speech Synthesis.
  2. Audio Worklet Thread Performance: Real-time signal processing in-browser is highly CPU-sensitive. We implemented an Adaptive Buffer Manager and a CPU Performance Scaler that monitors frame dropouts and dynamically adjusts Web Audio DSP complexity.
  3. PWA Offline Integrity & Storage Bloat: Audio caching can quickly exceed storage quotas. We implemented automatic storage garbage collection and cleaned up over 300MB of legacy build artifacts, securing a lean, ultra-fast pre-cached Progressive Web App.

🏆 5. Achievements We're Proud Of

  • Clean Type-Safety: Achieved 100% clean compilation (tsc --noEmit) across a complex full-stack repository with over 90 files.
  • Consensus-Driven Agent Debates: The Triad Council mode is genuinely agentic; models can agree, disagree, and negotiate parameters until they reach a mathematically and musically sound consensus.
  • True Inclusivity: Incorporating Paystack Live payments alongside Stripe and Web3 means independent producers in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa can access top-tier AI mastering and pay in local currencies using bank transfers or mobile money, receiving instant automated royalty splits.

💡 6. What We Learned

We learned that specialized, personas-driven multi-agent systems are far more effective than general-purpose LLM chat templates. Giving agents dedicated domains, customized system prompts, and rich API-driven tools turns the AI from a spectator into an active creative partner.
