Inspiration

I wanted to build a communtity chat app talored around college campuses so students can interact with each other and build a closer college cummunity

What it does

There is 3 different feeds(Classes, Social, /3). Students pick what university they go to and confirm this via university email. Then they have access to their colleges feed boards where they can talk to each other about classes, events and pretty much anything. They are only speaking with other students at their university. .

How I built it

I built this as a mobile web app that works on all smartphones. It uses a mobile web framework called Ionic, which gives the app a native feel. Also use cordova/phonegap to access smartphone features. I used a MEAN stack to build the application(MongDB, Express, Angular, Node.js).

Challenges I ran into

Some challenges i ran into where UI design and those annoying bugs that take 2 hours to find and end up being something simple

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I think i accomplished a lot. I learned some new technologies and was able to get my app where i wanted it to be within 36-hours. i set out a goal of what i wanted to do and i was able to complete it.

What I learned

I learned a lot working on this application. I learned a new library called 'nodemailer' which is used to send email confirmations to new users. Also i overall improved my skills and am very happy with this event. Having 36-hours to program and being surrounded by other programmers makes a really great learning environment

What's next for 3Feed

I am thinking about cleaning it up a bit and adding a couple more features and then hopefully publishing it to the App Store and Google Play.
