Inspiration
We wanted to protest gun violence. The game play was inspired by our childhood playing shell shockers.
What it does
It allows you to have fun playing a 3d multiplayer game with your friends.
How we built it
We made it in Godot. This is our first time actually submitting to a Hackathon, our first 3d game, and our first multiplayer game. We continuously asked each other about what file they were working on to minimize Git conflicts. Towards the end, we just took turns developing while the other rested.
Challenges we ran into
For some reason, we decided to make a 3d multiplayer game even though we never made either 3d or multiplayer. Jerry worked on the 3d aspect, and faced challenges making meshes. Alvin worked on the multiplayer aspect, and faced challenges syncing objects.
Godot kept modifying files we didn't work on, so there were lots of Git merge conflicts. We ended up just discarding those automatically modified files.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Overall, we are proud that we were able to make something that works, and that we learned how to do 3d and multiplayer in Godot.
What we learned
We learned the challenges and solutions to challenges regarding Godot's tools for 3d and multiplayer. We also learned how to minimize merge conflicts when working with Godot.
