Inspiration Weddings are full of joy—but planning them is overwhelming, especially when it comes to organizing where everyone will sit. Traditional tools are clunky, static, or just spreadsheets. Couples often struggle to balance family dynamics, guest preferences, and venue constraints. We asked: What if creating a seating plan felt like playing The Sims—visual, fun, and smart? That’s how the idea for an interactive, web-based 3D seating planner was born.

What it does The Weddji 3D Seating Platform empowers couples to: Visually arrange guests with drag-and-drop tables in a 3D view of their venue. Upload or sync their guest list (from Weddji or contacts). Use AI-powered suggestions to avoid drama and optimize proximity (e.g., “Don’t seat your divorced aunt near your ex.”) Share a sneak peek with guests in their digital invitation — they’ll know where they’re seated and with whom. Seamlessly handle dietary needs, RSVPs, and table limits.

All in a mobile-first, browser-based tool that requires no app download.

How we built it Vibe Coding (Bolt) powers all the custom interactions and guest logic, giving us full control where it matters most — like dynamic table layouts, seat relationships, and smart placement logic. No-code tools (like Webflow, Airtable, or Make) handle content, automation, and admin-level interfaces, so we can move fast and test ideas without weeks of dev time. Three.js/WebGL for a lightweight, mobile-first 3D visual experience.

Challenges we ran into Creating a 3D experience that works beautifully on mobile without lag. Managing complex relationships in a smart yet simple interface (families are… complicated). Balancing aesthetic control with speed — people want to personalize but not get lost in details. Making sure it feels joyful, not just functional.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We turned a stressful task into something that couples actually enjoy doing. Seamlessly synced with Weddji’s digital invitations for a complete experience. Built a responsive, accessible, and easy-to-use 3D interface — even for non-tech-savvy users. Got real feedback from couples in our pilot, who said: "This was the first time seating felt fun instead of frustrating."

What we learned People want control + guidance — not just automation. Design matters as much as the tech: couples care about how things feel. Mobile-first isn’t optional — most wedding planning happens on phones. Clear onboarding = 80% fewer drop-offs. Humor and lightness make even the hard tasks feel easier.

What's next for the 3D guest seating platform

  • Venue-specific templates so users can start with their actual space. *Vendor mode for event planners to collaborate with couples.
  • Augmented Reality (AR) viewto visualize the setup in the physical venue.
  • More integrations (catering, music, RSVP automations).
  • Launching to 10K+ Weddji couples by Q4 and opening a freemium version to the public.
