Inspiration
Two things i like most: facebook 3d photos and animated gifs. 3d gif is a combination of both.
What it does
It looks like usual animated gif, but by moving mouse or changing the phone position - you can change the viewing angel on image. So making it more real than plain gifs, and more interesting than 3d facebook photos.
How I built it
I've took a frames from video that contain both colour information and a depth map. Than converter joins the color and depth to two big textures: depth sample, colour sample.
On a final part, I'm using three.js and shaders i mix it in realistic 3d model, shifting the frames by timer.
What's next for 3d gif
Current video are taken from 3d movie. The next thing is make an app to capture video with depth frames on phones and devices that support it (iPhone, Intel RealSense etc.)
