Inspiration
We were inspired to create this project to streamline 3D printing management, focusing on tracking filament usage and settings remotely to enable more offline printing.
What it does
This project lets you keep track of of the filament weight in real time remotely. This system allows you to efficiently keep track of your material for 3d printing from anywhere.
How we built it
Using a Raspberry Pi Pico W, a touchscreen, and a weight sensor. The Pico W gets the input from the weight sensor and it uses this information to show weight on an online interface.
Challenges we ran into
The acrylic that was used to put on the top was very hard cut out, the 3d modeling was also difficult to do get the right dimensions
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to complete building a successfully working prototype and have plans for improvement.
What we learned
Combining skills like 3D modeling, coding, and electrical skills (soldering, wire size, choosing components, etc.).
What's next for 3D Filament Monitoring System
Upgrade the Pico W for a Raspberry Pi Zero to add more features like OctoPrint to remotely start/stop prints.
