Inspiration

We wanted to create something that was useful, something that didnt exist before. This is an ecosystem that solved many of the problems we personally faced, with annoyances that each app only did that. There was no way to use data from one to get another.

What it does

The apps we have are the run of the mill health apps. The difference is that we are expanding. With numerous apps behind our company name, we have a LOT of data to transfer between apps so that we can truly take everything into account. Like many know, everything affects everything else. Sleep affects fitness, and all of it compounds into your mental health. Because of this, we are able to develop lifestyle apps that come together to help you with your mental health. A bad day’s rest? We will know about it and do our best to help. Eating too much? We will alert you of the health risks, and other risks you didn't even know about, without you asking. This ecosystem is a lifestyle whereby you can keep in progress all aspects of your life, and thus, in turn, help the mental health of the average person. All of this information is vital. A meditation app won't always work, a breathing app wont either. Not a sleeping app, not a nutrition app, but all of them. Without every aspect covered, you cannot truly help yourself.

How I built it

We built it based on ideas. We brainstormed all the things that we thought the modern health apps missed, and realized how much this must affect our mental health. It was essentially a black hole in the Mental Health industry. To build it we worked with a site to build a mock-up of the core app on marvel. using that as a basis, we built a mock-up of the Addiction-In app that was similar in style. Everything was minimalist, because we didn't want to have clutter in an app meant for the healing of the mind. Afterwards we worked on a few java programs to see what the system would look like for more complex apps, like the Sleep-In app, that required a database for lots of previous information. This was done, and so was an app that showed the interface of the Screen-Time related app. These things were the foundation of all our ideas, and business plans, from which we brainstormed monetization and pitches, as well as how to market the ecosystem, and how to hook people in. From a business standpoint it is complete, with it really being a fully company.

Challenges I ran into

The Java programs had errors that we had to fix in order for the applications to run smoothly as possible.

Also we had some issues while using marvel, and we had to fix these so it functioned to our requirements

Video editing was also a difficult task, we had to work out something so that our video could accurately display the goal of Incarnate

Coordinating all our tasks was much more difficult with the coronavirus pandemic confining us in our homes, but we learned how to do so throughout the project. This will definitely help us in the near future as the pandemic has not yet ended.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

In terms of Java, we had to learn new methods to code while coding the applications, and this helped increase our knowledge of the coding language.

In terms of Marvel, we had to completely learn it from scratch, so it we all gained the basics of a new skill that will surely be beneficial in our futures

In terms of video editing, we were able to better hone our skills, therefore gaining skills that we will use in the future

We were able to improve our skills in working remotely as a team, which will be useful for our upcoming academic challenges.

What I learned

Mental health is more important than people realize, and there should be more awareness about this topic. It is just as important as one's physical health.

We also learned that there are many more factors than people realize that affect one's mental health. Maintaining good mental health may seem complex, but it should be everyone's goal, alongside with maintaining good physical health.

We learned how to improve our efficiency working in a group project while in a remote setting, as this year's Spark 2020 Hackathon was different than all others before it. it was the first time that team members did not physically interact with each other, and was a new and challenging, but rewarding learning experience

Over the past 36 hours, we have learned quite a bit as a group. We believe that the most important thing that we all learned was how to collaborate with one each other. When we first meet, we got a feel for each other's strengths and weaknesses. This meant we were able to tailor our design process around each other's traits, which was a skill that all of us learned. We also all gained a better understanding of coding. Finally, we learned some more technical skills, such as how to use Marvel and MIT app inventor, which are both platforms we will use in the future.

What's next for Incarnate: An Ecosystem - Magnum Brain, 39

After we expand our ability in coding and app development, we will be able to improve our ideas and and far beyond what we are showing today. We will be able to create the first, usable prototype of Incarnate: An ecosystem for testing and possible release to select platforms.
