Inspiration
In a world where information is crucial, it's essential that we have access to accurate and timely safety updates to protect our communities and loved ones. Unfortunately, With crime being a significant concern, many neighborhoods in Jamaica rely on scattered and unreliable sources for safety updates. This leads to delays, unverified information, and growing uncertainty, making it even more difficult for people to stay informed and safe.
What it does
We introduce to you StreetLinkz, an anonymous real-time, neighbourhood safety app that proactively allow you to keep you and your neighboured safe proactively. Get real time updates on crime hotspots and hazards, location based alerts as you approach any area, and stay up-to date on crime happening nearby or in any neighbourhood you select to watch.
How we built it
Our team used the Flutter framework to develop the mobile app, allowing us to create a high-performance, cross-platform application for both iOS and Android from a single codebase. For the backend, we turned to Firebase, which provided us with real-time database capabilities, anonymous user authentication, and cloud functions to manage data storage and server-side logic. Firebase’s scalable infrastructure helped us ensure smooth synchronization across devices, making the system reliable and responsive in real-time.
