Inspiration
Access to pricey materials or budgetary constraints shouldn't be a barrier to ACT preparation. When it comes to test preparation, many students do not have equal possibilities because of factors like expense, a lack of assistance, or unclear study resources. In order to provide every student, regardless of background, an equal chance of success, I set out to develop a universal, AI-powered solution that offers individualized, efficient, and easily accessible ACT preparation.
What it does
36 is an AI-driven ACT prep platform that scrapes official ACT materials, analyzes trends, and generates customized study plans specific to each student’s strengths and weaknesses. It provides:
- Targeted practice questions
- AI-powered explanations for better understanding
- Real-time progress tracking to measure improvement
- Adaptive learning that optimizes prep efficiency
How we built it
We created 36 using the following to guarantee a quick, scalable, and easy-to-use experience:
- Next.js and React.js for a cutting-edge, powerful frontend
- Use Tailwind CSS to create a responsive, slick design.
- Firebase provides database administration, real-time storage, and authentication
- Gathering the most recent official ACT materials through web scraping
- OpenAI's API to produce individualized justifications and research findings
Challenges we ran into
- Ensuring accessibility for students across different devices and internet speeds
- Fine-tuning AI explanations for clarity and accuracy
- Optimizing web scraping to retrieve the most relevant ACT data efficiently
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Bridging the gap in ACT prep accessibility by creating a free, AI-powered alternative to expensive courses
- Developing an adaptive learning algorithm to make study plans more effective
- Successfully integrating AI-generated explanations for clearer, smarter test prep
What we learned
- The importance of equitable education in standardized testing
- How to optimize AI-generated content for different learning styles
- Building scalable, high-performance applications using modern frameworks
What's next for 36, #1 ACT Prep Tool
- Expanding language accessibility for non-native English speakers
- Adding AI-powered tutoring for personalized support
