Inspiration - I moved to a new City and had nobody to play tennis with on public courts. Unless I joined a private club, it was hard to make use of public facilities.
What it does - A location-based app that connects sport players to each-other and nearby facilities in real-time, showing how many people are currently playing there.
How I built it - My team built this on Android, with REST services.
Challenges I ran into - There is limited park and rec data on OSMC. However, John Ridener provided an alternative solution for me.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of - Creating a website to connect tennis and squash players that has over 12,000 members.
What I learned - A lot of municipalities are looking for innovative ways to drive usage of public facilities and monetize them as well.
What's next for 32-OrbitHub - Partner with as many municipalities as we can to introduce the app to their community.
