Inspiration

We were looking for a educational app where people can learn three words by looking at an image. Thats how the concept of 3Words1Pic started.

What it does

Move ahead with levels by guessing three words related to one common picture. Challenge your vocab skill with the unlimited number of word puzzles for you. New puzzles are added at regular intervals for the endless fun with a mix of words and pictures.

The words related to the picture need not be necessarily objects. The words you guess could be anything ranging from names of color, season, feeling, mood, action among others.

How we built it

We have used flutter for the development of this word puzzle game. Earlier we have used flutter for our GRE vocabulary app. But it was a simple quiz based format. Here we have a lot of combination of letters , e.g. we are taking unique letters of all the three words and display at the bottom along with few more letters to show in the 14 letter box. The letters at the bottom will start disappearing when they have no more use for the three words to be guessed. They will continue to stay till you need them

Challenges we ran into

Some words has 10 letters, in that case we have to handle the position of the letters with respect to the screen. also we are pointing out the objects in the picture after the user succesfully finished the word. The position of images need to be perfect in every screen size, which we have done the calculation right.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Use hints by tapping on the bulb icon to the left of the screen to reveal one letter at a time till you are able to guess the right word. If the user has already filled up few words or has not attempted at all any letters, in that case we have check each possibilities and then only show the right hint.

What we learned

Flutter app is easy to use, more scalable and lot of flutter plugins makes the developer life easier.

What's next for 3 WORDS 1 PIC - Word Puzzle Game

We will be working as per the feedback of the users, we will enhance the app accordingly. Also we have two more original word game on the way, which we are working in flutter only.
