Inspiration

We were inspired by the anime "The Pet Girl of Sakurasou" and "Bonzi Buddy" to create a assistant AI that helps you do whatever you need on your desktop!

What it does

It is a chatbot that you can talk to, that specializes in the world of anime and manga. In addition, it helps you manage your MyAnimeList account with a seamless integration leveraging advanced AI technology courtesy of Google Gemini. Providing personalized recommendations with passion and enthusiasm.

How we built it

We build this desktop application using the electron framework, node.js, and most importantly, Google Gemini. Along the way cursor also gave us a few pointers here and there as well.

Challenges we ran into

The text to speech turned out to be a more problematic endeavor than we bargained for! But we managed to get it done.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The one thing any coder should be proud of, the project works exactly as intended.

What's next for Meido-chan

Improved list compatibility, UI & UX a couple of years ago, this idea would've been impossible a couple of years ago, but with the rapid improvements of technologies it will just continue to get better.
