Inspiration

We approached Make-A-Ton with great enthusiasm for our project idea: a novel hybrid blend of campus administration and placement automation. This idea was born during a late-night contemplation, weary from the tedious and repetitive form-filling and placement application processes. The concept revolved around a centralized system with access to college records, capable of automating placement applications by auto-filling candidate profiles. Furthermore, we envisioned integrating the campus administration platform, which possesses data on attendance, grade point averages, and more, to create a comprehensive platform that streamlines placement activities and preparations for candidates, college administration, and company hiring personnel. This vision motivated us to apply for Make-A-Ton.

What it does

Our project, the Simplified College Administration and Student Hub, is a web application meticulously tailored for the automated placement application process. The core objective is to develop a user-friendly web app that enhances daily interactions among college administration, students, and prospective employers. We achieve this by automating various tasks currently managed by placement officers, students, and HR representatives using data sourced from the college's records.

How we built it

Our development stack consists of:

  • Front End Development: ReactJS, Vite, NextUI
  • Backend Infrastructure: Strapi (Headless CMS)
  • Development Environment: Visual Studio Code (VSCode), LocalBrowserHost
  • UI/UX: Figma

Challenges we encountered

As Node.js was a criteria for recognition, we attempted to implement it into E-Campus. However, due to time constraints, we were unable to achieve this and resorted to employing Strapi, a Headless CMS tool with a graphical interface for building the back end.

Accomplishments we're proud of

Designing, building, and testing the MVP functionalities for E-Campus within a 24-hour timeframe was a daunting challenge for budding developers like us. We found integrating new technologies like NEXTUI both challenging and rewarding.

What we learned

Our mentor, an HR professional, provided invaluable insights into the challenges faced by the hiring industry and guided us on how to transform our idea into a real-life startup. In-depth discussions included aspects such as customized placement preparation and job position-specific guides for candidates during placement rounds.

What's next for 27_PEGASUS_E-Campus

Our future endeavors include participating in hackathons and project competitions to refine and expand the platform, introducing new features, and addressing real-world problems. Additionally, we plan to beta test E-Campus within our own college to simplify placement cell activities for both students and college management.
