Inspiration
Noticing university students enter a more independent life style without the skills of budgeting and cooking, our team sought to create a all-in-one solution to help students (and beginners) easily curate meal plans and learn recipes.
What it does
24PinkCarrots hosts a Unity-based cooking game which helps you learn new recipes conveniently and quickly. It helps you find recipes suited to your food preferences, budget and schedule.
How we built it
Unity Game: WebGL (C#) List of Recipes: The website takes in user input based on food preferences and budgets and generates a curated list of recipes.
Website Development: HTML & CSS & GitHub Pages & JavaScript
Challenges we ran into
Struggling to learn the interfaces, gitHub, compiling everyone's code and new languages such as C# and using Unity.
Not being able to use a database due to GitHub pages having limited functionality (static pages mostly). Coming up with a unique and innovative idea that was not already in the market. Working in a team with completely new people with different backgrounds and experiences.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Completing our website. Completing partly a game in Unity. Meshing well as a team and collaborating effectively.
What we learned
We learned a lot more programming skills and we realized how much time goes into debugging.
What's next for 24PinkCarrots
Fleshing out our game so it has achievements, customizable kitchen and decorations. Adding a nutrition tracker on top of the meal planner so that people can track their protein or other macro nutrients.
