As a regular at the Mountain View Farmers Market, I find myself visiting the same Producers again and again. Most notably Rodin Farms for their Delicious Honey Roasted Almond Butter, and Acme Bread Co. for their Sour Baguette. I also occasionally get free samples like a slice of peach or strawberry. The best part about going to these markets is knowing that everything I'm buying is local, and I'm supporting the local economy.
The problem that faces the farmers market regular is how do you satisfy your desire for a sour baguette on a Tuesday at 1pm, or make sure to have enough almond butter for your weekend camping trip in the middle of the week. Further, and more importantly, how do you make sure you are supporting your local economy by buying Local?
At Farm2Face, we're solving for this by creating an app to assist you with finding and following your favorite vendors. This allows you to find your favorite vendor, or local produce, with the click of a button. This also helps you discover things like the Pacifica farmers market which is open on Wednesdays at 2:30pm
We do this by combining the data in SMCgov.Org on Certified farmers markets, and on local farms with the maps provided by Ersi, to produce a searchable database for buying local, with emphasis on your favorite vendors. We also included stores like Whole Foods and Safeway, and even produce stands, who also sell Locally grown produce.
