24/7 MedConnect is a platform connecting patients with doctors around the world by language, specialty, and gender preference, enabling personalized, accessible healthcare anytime, anywhere.

Inspiration

We were inspired by the challenges many patients face when trying to connect with suitable doctors. Key issues include:

  1. Difficulty in Finding a Suitable Doctor
  2. Limited accessibility to a diverse range of doctors
  3. Language barriers between patients and doctors
  4. Gender preference for a more comfortable consultation experience

Our goal was to create a platform that addresses these issues, empowering patients with choice and personalized care.

What it does

24/7 MedConnect offers tailored doctor-patient connections through:

  1. By integrating AI to analyze symptoms and recommend suitable specialists
  2. Offer all available doctor choices on patients' specific symptoms
  3. Empowering patients to select doctors based on language and gender preferences for a comfortable experience 4.. Secured Live Video Chat with doctors to support real-time doctor-patient communication

How we built it

  1. Frontend: Built with React for a smooth, user-friendly experience
  2. Backend: Node.js and Express to handle requests and process data
  3. Database: MongoDB stores doctor profiles and information
  4. AI Integration: Gemini API processes symptoms and suggests appropriate specialties
  5. Real-Time Communication: PeerJS enables secure, live video consultations

Challenges we ran into

  1. Database Connectivity: Initial issues connecting MongoDB to our backend
  2. PeerJS Integration: Difficulties in migrating PeerJS for seamless video functionality
  3. Data Flow: Ensuring search results from MongoDB accurately displayed on the frontend
  4. Database building: Need to insert dummy entries manually first to make it work

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Successfully connecting the frontend to MongoDB
  2. Amazing UI/UX leveraging from Figma
  3. Integrating Gemini for AI-driven specialty suggestions and displaying relevant doctor profiles on the frontend
  4. Building a functional project with live video chat on separate hosts
  5. Creating a seamless sign-up page for adding new doctors to the database

What we learned

Task Prioritization to achieve our MVP within the hackathon timeframe Technical Skills: Integrating frontend, backend, and database functionality, plus working with PeerJS for video consultations Teamwork and the value of asking questions to overcome roadblocks

What's next for 24/7 MedConnect

  1. Building a portal page for the doctors
  2. Enhancing the chat page with additional features (text chat, file upload, etc.)
  3. Improving AI specialty detection for even more accurate doctor recommendations
  4. Migrate the peerjs component to the web app
