Inspiration
Live music, live art, live performances, live dancers in front of projected live digital art. These experiences are the cornerstone for building an ecosystem which catalyzes a new secondary market for digital live media. Our inspiration is to create value for venue owners, management companies, and the artists themselves. We are inspired to reduce costs and create efficient processes. We are inspired to enable someone like the bar owner in Freetown, Sierra Leone to be able to book live music which can increase business. Mobile penetration is high enough to where our services can be beneficial to help scout and book local talent, which directly affects the economic upward mobility of the business owner, their family and immediate community. On a larger scale, we are inspired to bring life to cities, as live music and art is a major driving factor to the cities' economics - for example the city of Austin generates nearly $2 billion a year from live music alone. Finally we are inspired by SXSW and the people we interacted with along our hackathon journey, from the phone call with UMG to the sponsors and mentors, and all of the tech events and panels in between.
What It Does
The media dapp modules are an ecosystem of services which create a new secondary market for live media.
The talent discovery module is based on prediction algorithms which can find emerging artists who are beginning to break into the mainstream, as well as project profitability of future performances, sales, and streams
The talent booking module helps simplify the talent buying process for venue operators and event managers
How We Built It
Our modular framework is based on multichain, ipfs, & google cloud ai
Talent Discovery Module
We use the spotify, twitter, facebook and instagram api's to scrape data from artists to establish various metrics which we use to identify trends.
Metrics our prediction algorithms are based on:
Rate of users adding a song to a playlist
Rate of skipping after a specific time interval between 5 seconds and 30 seconds.
Rate of comments over a day, week, month, and quarter
Rate of shares & retweets over a day, week, month, and quarter
Rate of likes & favorites over a day, week, month, and quarter
Rate of mentions or tags over a day, week, month, and quarter
Rate a user follows an artist
Search engine word interest over time
For music consumption data, we focused on data from public repositories. The metadata provided in The Million Song Data Set and the The Free Music Archive were essential for our machine learning efforts.
For trend analysis and predictions, we will use data derived from financial markets, as well as natural patterns occurring in weather, wave period data from buoys, and traffic data from toll roads. We incorporate 'Elliot Wave Theory' to identify artists breaking into the main stream. Additionally we use Fibonacci sequencing to identify targets that will signal potential breakouts. At the moment we have two types of 'hype' that we categorize - liquid hype and illiquid hype. Liquid hype is organic growth with a stable and growing network; illiquid hype is inorganic growth with a weak and manufactured network. We use market data from large financial indices during positive market movements to synthesize patterns which represent organic growth; and volatile pump/dump movements from penny stocks to synthesize patterns which represent illiquid or inorganic growth. The inorganic data is important to filter out, as this is an attempt by our process to bypass artists which pay for fake likes, subscribers, & engagement.
The trend analysis reports will be stored on IPFS and referenced by a permission-able blockchain, where only those with permissions can index and view the data. Permissions can be assigned to grant access to license and copyright holders, and permissions can be removed when the license/copyright changes ownership.
The predictions algorithm is a key component of the talent booking module, allowing us to incorporate trends to calculate surge pricing to maximize capitalization on demand. This module stores tour data on ipfs and references the hashes on the metadata of blockchain information transactions.
Talent Booking Module
Ticketing Module
Interfaces with Ticket Fairy to provide a seamless service to distribute tickets.
Live Recording Module
The live music recording module will have a ShowSparker integration which enables the crowdsourcing of live recordings for live performances. Recordings are stored and indexed on the media storage module and specially licensed to share royalties with the venue, bands, and other interesting parties.
Media Storage, Licensing & Distribution Module
VR Media Player Module
Media files can be pulled from the media storage module
Artist Tokenization Module
Artists can launch a token for ticket sales, merchandising, engaging fans, and many more possibilities
Challenges We Ran Into
Tensor flow issues.
Mental exhaustion.
Accomplishments
We have identified solutions which can create economic value.
What We Learned
A whole lot about AI.
What's Next for "♫ Timeless Media"
The predictions algorithm will be integrated with more data sets to isolate metrics for breakout trends.
We have networked during SXSW which has put us on our development trajectory. We have connected with Giuseppe Abbamonte, the director of media policy for the EU who will advise us and is interested in the potential use cases of using AI to reduce misinformation and false inputs, which we will utilize within our predictions algorithm.
We have opportunities lined up for immediate paths to revenue when launched..
Prospective Partnerships
Ticket Fairy for the ticketing module and commission on ticket sales.
Show Sparker for catalyzing live media events and recording.
Prospective Clients
"The Venue" located on 6th street is interested in using our services for finding and booking national touring artists.
