Inspiration

Through Cargo IQ's challenge, we found inspiration to develop an innovative solution. By identifying the needs and the disruption caused by the lack of timely feedback from third party services, we created "1 Tracking". The solution provides door-to-door tracking and integration with any Transportation Management System (TMS) on the market, using the One Record API.

Objectives of the solution The main issue we address with "1 Tracking" is the lack of visibility into third party services. Specifically, we focus on solving the problem that occurs when a company in production depends on a specific load in the last step of the chain. When the company has advance knowledge of delays, it can adjust its operations. However, the absence of visibility in this scenario can result in significant delays and considerable inconvenience.

Solution Description "1 Tracking" is an application that acts as a centralized hub, aggregating all third-party service events for all entities involved. This solution aims to eliminate the problem mentioned above by providing complete real-time visibility. By using the application, companies will have access to detailed information about the status and location of shipments, as well as any relevant updates from all third-party services used.

Benefits of the solution

  • Enhanced visibility: "1 Tracking" provides a comprehensive view of all events related to third-party services, allowing companies to monitor and track their loads in real time.
  • Informed decision making: With up-to-date and accurate information available, companies can make more informed and proactive strategic decisions.
  • Reduced delays and disruption: By providing immediate feedback on any delays or problems, "1 Tracking" allows companies to adjust and minimize disruption caused by unplanned delays.
  • Increased operational efficiency: The centralized application simplifies the process of monitoring and managing third-party services, enabling more efficient and effective coordination throughout the production chain.

In short, "1 Tracking" aims to solve the critical problem of lack of visibility into third-party services. By providing a comprehensive, real-time solution that integrates tracking, single sign-on and compatibility with multiple TMS available on the market, our application becomes an essential hub for companies, eliminating the uncertainty and hassle associated with delays and lack of accurate information.

What it does

  • Implements a standard for reporting service events.

Use Cases

  • Identify the company
  • Identify the Shipment
  • Register a Shipment
  • Register Shipment events in real-time and estimations
  • Return events depending on the Shipment
  • Integrating Events into a TMS

Integrations

  • OneRecordAPI integration
  • TMS Integration (Transporter)
  • Third Parties Integrations

How we built it

To build 1Tracking portal and backend we used

  1. React – for the front-end (https://react.dev/)
  2. C# - for the backend (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/csharp/tour-of-csharp/ )

Challenges we ran into

  • Integrate all components – OneRecord API, Hub, WebPortal, TruckApp and broker

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Using onerecord standards
  • Connecting all the components (OneRecord API, Hub, WebPortal, TruckApp and broker)

What we learned

What's next for 1Tracking

  • Connect Event Hub to our recent cloud TMS systems, such as Webtrans and also from our partners: Logitudeworld using their API.
  • In addition to share events using onerecord ontology, use also and integrate DCSA tracking standards so that we can enrich the project (aircargo and maritime industry).
  • How can onerecord and DCSA events\tracking be interoperable?
