Inspiration - An extrapolation of an Idea ...

... and a desire for a stronger community. Brainchild Rika, who has zero coding skills, started thinking of the idea of a platform a loooong time ago. Before the corona crisis came about, it was supposed to be about tailoring and fashion design. Corona Connect is about bringing people together in an organised and safe way.

What it does - It unites Angles with Earthlings.

Corona Connect connects people who seek help (Earthlings), with every day tasks that can be done despite being socially distant, and people in the same area who want to help (Angles). Through a series of questions, that the Angles and Erathlings klick through and fill in the need and bid are determined and then matched through a Tag and Geocoordinate based search function.

How We built it

The start was bumpy, but the ball got rolling eventually! Codes got written the back end got connected to the front end and the graphics were build in. Because our team of four had not met before, we were very pleased to have our first prototype up and running on the first evening instead of by Sunday morning as originally planned.

Challenges We ran into

We didn’t know each other and in fact we met first time during the hackathon. Instead of loosing time to discuss our working mode we decided to simply start. As more we worked together as more we interacted together as a team. A big, perhaps the biggest challenge was the GDPR/DSGVO and other legal stuff.

Accomplishments that We’re proud of

We got running the first prototype very soon. We really had a skateboard without wheels in the beginning, looking awfull without any functionality. In just a couple of hours we were able to polish the prototype more and more. Of course our Skateboard still miss one or maybe two wheels. But we are proud to create it in such short time with a team of only four people.

What We learned

Sometimes it is not required to discuss every single detail before starting something. Of course it is usually a good idea to think before doing something. But it is not always the best way.
