Inspiration

The use of Ai. Can Ai help us to generate new Graffiti Abstract in which elevate us to be a better artist.

What it does

Generate more abstract so it give more options to form art using original data set.

How I built it

First by building a dataset of Ali’s digital paintings. Then build another dataset by segmenting Ali’s dataset and then taking the outlines of it. Then we applied a augmentation techniques to increase the number of examples for each dataset. Finally we Trained CycleGAN for 700 epoch and trace the generating behavior.

Challenges I ran into

1- Finding the perfect preprocessing pipeline to build dataset_B
2- Training CycleGAN for perfect number of epochs
3- Finding a way to test the trained versions of CycleGAN
4- Runing out of storage
5- Notebook disconnected
6- Internet slowness
7- Balance between Work time and Artathon time

What I learned

Ali: I used to be scared of the idea of coding. now i can read codes. know what is it about, fix some pugs and actually run them. the idea of me having an app where i chick and generate a new abstract graffiti by itself its an achievement. I am planing on using our cycleGAN as a tool to enhance my work as an artist.
Maha: I learned valuable skills throughout this bootcamp. Such as to have my hand running and editing the deep learning algorithms and generative models like an expert. How to handle the shortage in a dataset. How to debug the code. And the mindset to take the project step by step and not freak out if something wasn't working. Another thing I learned is how different the Artist way of thinking to me. How there are no logical limits for their visions and no compromises for their expectations. It is cool.
Afaaf: Slicing videos into frames. Applying transfer style on frames. Generating videos from frames. Running different models in RunwayML. Transfer multiple styles. Phrasing a story for the artwork.

Imagine waking up in the morning. Setting your fresh Espresso coffee. Sit at your desktop while hearing the early birds singing. Open your laptop, press on your app, then click on “generate” to get fresh results from your own model. I am planing to use this model as my tool to elevate myself and BE one of the first Saudi artist to use Ai in his craft
