Inspiration

Considering the rapid spread of Coronavirus, our project aims to limit direct interactions between the frontline medical staff and suspected patients. We will use a robot to reduce the manual work of the nursing staff, which can also reduce the risk of cross-infection. This will accelerate the overall medical treatment process and possibly improve it.

What it does

Detects patient body temperature prior to entering the hospital and alerts the staff if the patient have a fever Guides the patient to the counter to complete registration Answers the patient’s questions and asks them to fill out the questionnaire Comes and asks the patient investigative questions (e.g., How do you feel? When did your symptoms start? Where have you been?) when you are waiting in line. Immediately sends the data to the doctor so they can assess the patient’s situation before treatment begins

How we built it

  • Frontend: Android
  • Backend: Laravel
  • Coded on Android and transferred to robot via Bluetooth Human recognition

Challenges we ran into

We needed additional hardware to measure human vitals. It is also difficult to program a robot to process all the things the patient might say, as well as to converse naturally with a human.
