Inspiration
I'm a full-time DevOps Engineer who started building applications just six months ago, inspired by indie hackers like Marc Lou and Adam Lyttle.
While packing for a recent vacation, I stumbled upon two brand-new shirts I had completely forgotten about. It hit me: despite owning over 30 shirts and sneakers, I always rotate between the same five tees and three pairs. That’s when I realized the problem — most of us don’t need more clothes, we just need better visibility into what we already own. So I built a solution: a virtual closet that helps you organize, visualize, and make the most of your wardrobe.
Sustainability
You do not need more clothes. You need the ones you already have
We keep buying clothes… and keep forgetting about them.
- The average person wears only 20% of their wardrobe 80% of the time.
- Unused clothes = wasted money + environmental impact.
- We lack visibility and organization in our closets.
What it does
- Virtual Inventory — Digitally catalog every clothing item and accessory with custom metadata (Brand, Style, Price, Colors, Condition, etc.), and filter as needed.
- Outfit Creator — Drag and drop items into outfits, or let AI generate looks based on occasion or weather.
- AI Model Preview — Visualize outfits on an AI-generated human that reflects your body type, skin tone, and proportions.
- Outfit Scheduler — Plan your looks ahead on a calendar — avoid outfit fatigue and rotate through your full wardrobe.
- Advanced Insights - See total value of your closet, most and least worn items, distribution based on category, average condition and more.
How I built it
I started building the app using Bolt.new, burning through the 10M token limit in the first day — but that was enough to fully build the UI and most of the capabilities. I then moved to an AI IDE and used Claude 4.0 to complete the backend logic and API integrations.
The marketing website was also generated in fewer than 10 prompts using Bolt.new.
Challenges I ran into
Initially, I aimed to implement on-device background removal using TensorFlow, but performance and complexity led me to shift to a cloud-based solution.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm genuinely proud of how the app turned out — it’s something I would (and will) use daily. The drag-and-drop outfit builder is intuitive and fun, and the AI-generated human preview is a game changer in visualizing style.
What I learned
I got hands-on with OpenAI's Image Edit endpoints and refined my workflow with third-party APIs for background removal. I also discovered just how tricky ML can be in a React Native environment — a valuable lesson.
What's next for 10outfits - Your smart wardrobe assistant
I’m preparing for launch, with a focus on ASO (App Store Optimization) and early marketing. If there's traction, I plan to evolve the app from local storage to a fully cross-platform cloud-connected experience.
