100th Day Anniversary

Inspiration

The inspiration came from Runway’s feature that allows a single actor’s face to be mapped onto multiple characters. It made me wonder, “What if one person had lived across many different eras?” That idea naturally evolved into a vampire concept, and the story grew into a narrative where a girlfriend jokingly notices clues about her boyfriend’s longevity—only to eventually uncover the truth.

What it does

100th Day Anniversary is a short film that begins as a romance and gradually shifts into horror. During their ordinary 100-day anniversary date, traces of the boyfriend’s immortal past begin to surface, and the story unfolds through the girlfriend’s growing realization.

How we built it

The project was created entirely through the Incheon Cine School Plus AI Short Film Workshop. Using Runway’s Act-2 and Mixboard features, we experimented with scenes, transitions, and tones, iterating through AI-generated shots to refine the visual storytelling.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was that Act-2 struggled to recognize two-person shots, making it difficult to create diverse angles. Generating specific camera positions was also harder than expected. Maintaining character consistency across scenes was another significant issue, which led us to choose an animation style—though even then, achieving uniformity required constant adjustments.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite having no prior experience in AI filmmaking, we were able to complete a full short film from start to finish. We explored new cinematic possibilities using AI tools and pushed narrative and visual quality as far as possible within the technical limitations.

What we learned

AI filmmaking requires a completely different mindset from traditional production. Through hands-on challenges—Act-2’s limitations, consistency issues, and angle generation constraints—we gained a practical understanding of both the strengths and weaknesses of AI-based film creation. This project became a foundation for our future AI work.

What's next for 100th Day Anniversary

We plan to expand this project into a more advanced AI production pipeline, exploring multi-character scenes and more complex emotional performances. We’re also interested in trying hybrid projects that blend live-action and AI, pushing the boundaries of what this new medium can achieve.
