Inspiration

ADHD is often under-diagnosed or misdiagnosed, especially in Teens and Pre-teens who often lack the communication skills to relay their symptoms and talk about them. Psychiatrists use multiple test designed to address this issue to provide a more definite way of pointing to likeliness of disorder. From last few years, efforts have been made to digitize the tests but it often creates a barrier between the patient and the diagnosis. When we came to learn about Snap Spectacles and having read about this issue earlier, It striked to us like a perfect solution to the problem as we could leverage the portability and immersiveness of the device to use as a delivery method to deliver battery of tests targeted at identifying ADHD.

How we built it

Initially, we jumped right in experimenting with Lens Studio and figuring things out as we went. We were new to most of technologies we used in development process, so we made sure we were learning from each other and all the available resources while also working on the dev work.

Challenges we ran into

most challenging was the learning curve for lens studio, and only one of us had previously used unity 3d.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to pick up completely new technology and dive deep into psychiatry, all in one night!

What we learned

We learned a ton about working with Lens Studio, which will be useful for us in future 3D dev projects too. We also learnt a lot about mental health and the serious challenges around it.

What's next for Psych AR

We made a good progress in our research and learning our way around AR within 24 hours. We realize Psych ARs potential to help an under serviced part of healthcare apparatus and plan to complete bringing the full battery of tests to AR environments and potentially collaborate with meaningful partners to create a product that serves the needs of mental health patients.
