Inspiration

We were inspired by the challenges faced by township entrepreneurs in Tshwane and other communities across South Africa. Many small businesses struggle with limited digital visibility, lack of access to customers, unemployment, and weak support systems. We wanted to create a platform that empowers local businesses and helps communities grow through technology and innovation.

What it does

012 Kasi Hustle is a digital platform designed to support township economic revitalisation. The platform helps local businesses promote their services, connect with customers, and create local job opportunities. It also provides better visibility for township businesses while supporting community growth and engagement.

How we built it

We built the project using web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We designed and developed a responsive website that allows users to explore township businesses and opportunities easily. We also focused on creating a clean user experience that is simple, accessible, and community-driven.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing a solution that addresses multiple community problems while keeping the platform simple and user-friendly. We also faced challenges with organizing content, improving responsiveness, and ensuring that the platform clearly communicates its purpose and impact.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned more about teamwork, problem-solving, web development, and designing solutions with social impact. We also gained experience in presenting ideas, structuring projects, and understanding how technology can empower local communities.

What's next for 012 Kasi Hustle

Our next step is to expand the platform by adding AI-powered recommendations, business analytics, chatbot support, and digital marketing tools for entrepreneurs. We also want to partner with local municipalities, businesses, and organizations to help more township entrepreneurs access opportunities and grow their businesses.
