Inspiration
Personal Assistant website has been common, but our team felt that we wanted to make this PA system not only cost effective but also highly accessible, hence the idea of it being a telegram bot. The telegram bot can embody various complicated functions such as summarizing email threads, and yet remain user friendly to the admins from Singapore Book Council
What it does
Our telegram bot manages tasks, summarize emails, and most importantly sends messages to users through DM whenever there is a task alert.
How we built it
Using python and Telegram, Gmail, Google Calendar API, we try our best to make the most user friendly bot we can make given Telegram's capabilities.
Challenges we ran into
It was not very flexible developing the chat bot as Telegram has a lot of restrictions. Additionally, we wanted to use the Outlook API for both email and calendar related but there were too many steps to get it working that we feel may be too much of a hassle for users to implement (they would need to generate their own keys and get it authenticated, plus additional steps).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the summarizing email function that can summarize all our emails in the past week using VertexAI
What we learned
A personal assistant bot though implemented into a very small area of our life such as a messaging platform can have such great impact onto our personal lives by automating what was once manual. Change and improvement in our life can be implemented in small areas yet yield large results
What’s next for H4ck Project:
Implementing more features to the telegram bot to be an even seamless, multi functional personal assistant. One future feature include directly converting the contents of email threads into tasks
