Inspiration
We came into this hackathon with the intent to make a website that we can easily integrate into our lives. Another main focus for us was creating a simple user design that would allow user the ability to focus on the task on hand.
What it does
It is a website which allows users to track goals in a more user-friendly format. By filing out a simple typeform, the user can automatically view and update their goals as a blog.
How I built it
We used AWS to host a server on which we can manage our site without being limited by typical WordPress hosting restrictions. We integrated WordPress and Typeform functionalities using Zapier. We used AWS RDS to create a MySQL database for intermediate data storage.
Challenges I ran into
AWS posed some complications with server setup due to its nonstandard interface. This was our first time working with web servers so we were definitely challenged.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud of our polished product and user design, as well as the overall workflow.
What I learned
We learned how to work with non-static web development as well as integrate other technologies in that practice.
What's next for Goal-ly
We want to potentially expand our hosting options and continue developing features beyond our demo.
