Inspiration
My name is Daniel and this is Kechu. The inspiration behind fenestra was born while Kechu was living in Germany. Frische Luft, German for Fresh Air, is a common phrase in Germany used to describe the daily routine of opening windows to let fresh air in and flush stuffy air out. A closed-up building is regarded as very UN-healthy.
What it does
Our product is called fenestra, a device which motorizes your sliding windows and allows them to open and close automatically based on your desired temperature, your local weather forecast, or a schedule which you set in your phone.
How I built it
Hardware consists of an Arduino which connects to the SmartThings ecosystem.
Challenges I ran into
Building a safe, efficient and reliable device which works every time. We are still running into challenges every day.
What's next for fenestra
We are constantly adapting to the ever-changing IoT standards and are planning our next steps.
