Inspiration:
The inspiration behind WuraOla – My Gold, My Mother came from my real story. In Yoruba, “Wura” means gold and “Jigi” means mirror the mirror breaks when a father dies, but the gold shines when a mother lives on. My mother raised three of us alone after my father’s death. Her strength, courage, and endless love became the rhythm of my soul.
What I learned
Creating this project taught me that art can heal pain and transform memory into beauty. I learned how AI can carry human emotion when guided by truth, culture, and gratitude.
How I built it
I wrote the lyrics myself, composed the melody, and used free AI tools to generate the video in 15-second scenes. Each frame represents a stage of her struggle and grace. The editing and synchronization were done manually to preserve emotional depth and Yoruba cultural roots.
Challenges
Working with AI video tools that only allowed short clips was a major challenge. I had to merge many scenes patiently to form the full piece. Finding the right tone that matched Yoruba emotion in AI synthesis was also hard but deeply rewarding.
