Inspiration
I have always struggled with my dark skin. South Asian culture praises lighter skin. Women with dark-skin feel very pressured to lighten their skin tone by either creams or injections (sadly, I have been there, done that). Colonial beauty standards have sucked life out of beautiful brown skin for years. Now 2025..almost 2026 – slavery has ended but the mindset- “white is beautiful” still stays. I want to end it FOREVER with my empowering Brown Girl Anthem.
What it does
This is for every Brown & Black Girl who was ever told to “lighten up,” “fix her shade,” or be “more fair.” “White Wash My Brown” is a rap-pop protest anthem reclaiming Brown skin as power, pride, and resistance. This track calls out the billion-dollar skin-whitening industry built on selling insecurity to South Asian & Black Girls — and flips the narrative into self-worth, culture, and fire.
How we built it -
We used the following tools: Google V03, google drive, Midjourney, Infinitetalk, finished in Premiere pro
Challenges we ran into
To get the perfect lip sync was quite hard and very time consuming. To get the perfect shots of the girls from different races smearing white cream took a lot of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of - We are amazed at how realistic the girls from different races look. The video really brought the song to life and gave it a feeling of an “Anthem” and A “Movement”.
What we learned
The most important is to come up with a concept and how you want to tell the story. AI is a very powerful collaborator where you can bring your imaginations to life. It empowering to say things and show things the way they are.
What's next for Whitewash My Brown
I would like to be signed by a Record label or collaborate with a partner so my music and creativity can reach a bigger audience. I am also creating a rom-com, children's story series, songs, and videos. I want to teach audience and artists how to tell stories in collaboration with AI. I want to Thank you for this opportunity!!
