One of our teammates is from Turkey, where they have a government-made centralized health information system that stores patient data and schedules doctors appointments that one can only access with their ID number. This system is incredibly useful, especially during COVID. We wanted to implement this idea in the USA with added features to make the system much more secure.

What it does

ViaCloud compiles all healthcare information related to a person under a single account which can be modified by healthcare providers. Individuals can access their data anytime, anywhere which saves time and requires less paperwork. Others can see an individual's health data (including information such as allergies, vaccinations and prescriptions) if an individual chooses to share their public key. The entire system is stored and encrypted on the blockchain, which prevents patient data from being compromised.

How we built it

We utilized a JavaScript based web designing tool to create a demonstration website for VieCloud.

Our biggest challenge was to open Eclipse.

We are proud that we came up with an idea that, when implemented correctly, could have a significant benefit on society.

What we learned

We learned how to work collaboratively and be resilient to new challenges. We also learned that it can be quite difficult to divide large problems into manageable chunks.

What's next for VieCloud - The Unified Health Information System

We will find a method to integrate the blockchain code to our back-end system, which we attempted to do during the hackathon. We will also refine our user interface.
