Inspiration
Unit-E emerges from the growing fracture between technological immersion and emotional sincerity. As society accelerates into a hyper-digital future, our inner worlds risk becoming outsourced to algorithms, screens, and consumable emotional substitutes. This short film confronts that unsettling shift by imagining a world where emotions are no longer felt, only purchased.
What it does
The film follows an artificial intelligence inhabiting a synthetic human body as it roams through a pristine, meticulously controlled city where emotions function as commodities. Through atmospheric visuals and minimalist storytelling, Unit-E critiques the illusion of algorithmic happiness and the loneliness bred by constant artificial stimulation.

Challenges we ran into
Preserving emotional depth in a workflow driven by AI systems Achieving consistent visual language across multiple generative platforms Balancing artistic intent with the unpredictability of AI outputs Condensing a complex societal critique into a short but powerful runtime
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a haunting, immersive dystopian world with poetic emotional resonance Positioning AI as a creative collaborator, not a shortcut Integrating glitch textures, evocative narration, and layered sound design Being officially selected for the 37th Girona Film Festival
What we learned
How to shape AI as a co-creator capable of emotional nuance How to refine and iterate prompts to direct aesthetic and narrative specificity That true emotion cannot be automated, optimized, or purchased — it must be lived That audiences connect deeply with stories questioning the nature of authentic feeling
