Our inspiration for this project was that transportation is one of the biggest components of individual consumption that releases the most CO2 emissions.
This web app calculates the carbon footprint for each mode of transport to offer sustainable transport options with the least carbon emissions within the UK. Our app also calculates the price for each form of travel.
Used Python and integrated a transportation API; added front end design.
The most challenging part was integrating the transportation API with our code, and combining the front end with the back end.
Getting the front end up and running, and completing the back end with Python within a short time.
We learned about the impact different forms of travel have on the planet. We built our skills in various programming languages such as Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Also, we learned how to use Django.
We want to expand Track Your Travel to international destinations; not just in the UK. Increase the accuracy of the footprint calculation as the data we're using now might not be very representative of the UK's footprint and transport prices.
