Inspiration
The recent hike in inflation rate showed the importance of being financially savvy, the crazy gas prices motivated us to look within the Toyota App to see where we could improve the customer experience. We noticed that by using data from the vehicle mileage, travel history, and journey data we improved gas mileage and found cheap gas stations for customers.
What it does
Our app is a feature that could be added to the Toyota App to help driver's save gas and improve mileage, especially during long trips. It calculates how many miles your car can drive based on your current gas tank levels then optimizes a route for you to find the most fuel efficient route with the most cost effective gas stations on the route.
How we built it
How we built it: We built the web app using flask in python and we built out the front-end using HTML and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
Challenges we ran into: It was difficult for us to work with the Google Maps API to get specific search fields and search results. We also had setting up the backend and ran out of time to set up a RDBMS.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Accomplishments that we are proud of: We learned how to use Python Flask and how to query Google Maps APIs. We also learned how to use Bootstrap for HTML and CSS.
What we learned
What we learned: To build a fullstack web app in Python.
What's next for Toyota Gas Optimization Center Mobile Application
Developed a machine learning to better optimize the trip data. We can also implement a RDBMS.
