One of our team members worked in a bakery where it would take at least a month to replenish inventory, which caused a lot of stress. Therefore, we wanted to create a product that would be applicable to inventory and shipping in the hospitality industry. Hotels are familiar to every team member, so we chose to research the challenges for hotel management and use the power of ERPs to prototype a solution.

What it does

It allows hotel managers to keep track of their inventory and ensure that they have enough laundry supplies for incoming guests. They can obtain shipping costs for any materials that they require to accommodate their guests.

We used Odoo and ShipEngine

Becoming proficient in using Odoo was a challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to conduct user research and incorporate the data into our design in a timely manner. Despite the time crunch, we were able to interview two people in the hospitality industry. We are also proud that we stepped out of our comfort zone and tried something new. Only one of our team members has been to a hackathon before this weekend.

What we learned

We learned how to use Odoo and integrate the ShipEngine API.

What's next for The Suite Life of NYC

We can do more in-depth user research and further work on the backend to add functionality for all aspects of hotel management. For example, during our ideation session, we also wanted sections for kitchenware, maintenance, IT, and reservations.
