Inspiration

A gameshow that is very popular in the UK inspired me to build this game, I won't mention what it is but I'm sure you can probably guess. Also, the fact that I've built Alexa games with rich audio experiences before and found them to be more popular and fun.

What it does

The game gives you the chance to go head to head against some of the world's smartest quizzers.

A chaser will be chosen for you to go up against, It could be The Beast, The Governess, The Sinner man, or The Barrister. Each is equally cunning, intimidating, and rarely get questions wrong.

You’ll have to choose an offer that the chaser gives you -

The higher offer will make the game harder for more money The lower offer will make the game easier for less money Or you can choose to say where you are.

Depending on what you choose will change how far away from home you start the game. You'll have to answer as many questions correctly as you can to try and reach home. If you reach home, you win and take home your cash. But if you get too many questions wrong, the chaser will catch you and it’s game over!.

How I built it

I built this using the Jovo framework with Node.js, added Dynamo DB to store user data and used APL audio to enhance the gaming experience.

Challenges I ran into

This is my first time publishing a skill using the Jovo framework so this was a learning experience for me, It was also very time consuming creating some of the sound effects and using apps like Garage band to create the exact sound I wanted for that part of the game. I also used my own voice in the game which was interesting.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Implemented ISP to this game which will allow customers to further enhance the gaming experience.

What I learned

How to work with APL to enhance audio and visual experiences, how to capture user data - Name, email, location, How to use more of the Jovo framework.

What's next for The Chaser Game

Adding more ISP items - possibly a multiplayer option if there is interest in the game.
