Inspiration
Almost a decade ago, I wrote several screenplays with the intention of filming them. Due to a lack of resources, they were forgotten. Thanks to artificial intelligence tools, I've been able to bring this project to life. My main influences are anthology series of science fiction and fantasy stories, classic science fiction by authors like Philip K. Dick, Ray Bradbury, and Asimov, and 1950s cinema.
What it does
It is a short AI-driven film that brings one of my original sci-fi stories to life. The project combines AI-generated imagery, animation, voice acting, and music to create a cohesive cinematic experience. It allows viewers to immerse themselves in a narrative that blends science fiction, mystery, and classic anthology-style storytelling, all produced through an end-to-end AI workflow.
How we built it
Within the Freepik platform, I generated the images using Google Nano Banana. All of them were enhanced with Magnific, and I animated them with Kling 2.1 when linking scenes and Kling 2.5 when necessary. I generated the voices and narrations in Eleven Labs. The music was generated using Suno. Everything was then assembled and edited in Adobe Premiere.
Challenges we ran into
Maintaining the main character's consistency has been a challenge, although modern tools make the job much easier; not long ago, it was unthinkable to maintain such a high level of consistency. The second biggest challenge has been creating believable continuous sequences with camera movements that blend seamlessly between clips, without any obvious jumps.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
To achieve a narrative told in a cinematic way, with visual resources typical of film and with a considerable level of coherence in characters and locations.
What we learned
I have learned to create cinematic scenes, to learn more about how some of the tools work, and to create little tricks to achieve complex scenes, or scenes told in a peculiar way, breaking away from the norm.
What's next for The Artifact
Perhaps a sequel, or spin-offs, perhaps a remake when the tools allow the story to be told in a more believable or easier way.
