Humans pollute the air, land, and sea by burning fossil fuels, overusing chemicals and pesticides, and creating sewage run-off. The health consequences of that pollution cause 8.8 million deaths annually worldwide. Every year millions of dollars are wasted in improper waste management, which is an easy problem to tackle at the user level. By making an easy way for users to manage their waste properly, we can greatly reduce damage. So, I created this website that can help to save the environment.

What it does

(i) ITEM SORT CAMERA: Most of us find difficult to sort out the trash and always mix up the trash which causes pollution and death of species. So, by using the trash sort camera you will be able to identify the trash as recyclable and non-recyclable and dispose it properly.

(ii) AR: Plants and animals maintain the health of an ecosystem. When a species becomes endangered, it's a sign that an ecosystem is out of balance. The conservation of endangered species, and restoring balance to the world's ecosystems, are vital for humans, too. Here you can watch the AR of endangered species.

(iii) TO-DO List: In this you can able to speak up your work to be done and save your notes by using this you can able to do all the works in time being productive. You can listen to your note anytime and also you can delete it after your work was done.

(iv) AIR QUALITY: Here you can able to see the quality of your air in your location. The air quality index will allow awareness of potential health hazards while also encouraging people to take the necessary safety precautions.

(v) Game: This is a game designed for children. It usually shoots out the trash flying. It helps children to learn that we should avoid trash and keep the environment clean and green. It also helps the children to learn more about our environment. Games are the best way to teach the children as they love it.

(vi) Donate camera: Every year, tons of clothing are discarded and end up in landfills. Many of these clothing items are in perfectly serviceable conditions as well. By donating your clothing, you stop the landfills from getting bigger and you keep usable material from being thrown in the trash. Here you can donate your items to charity foundations.

(vii) Videos: I also included videos about the environment which help people to gain some awareness of our ecosystem and help to maintain our environment properly.

(viii) Articles: I also included articles about the environment which help people to gain some awareness of our ecosystem and helps to maintain our environment properly.

How we built it

I used EJS along with CSS for the frontend. And used NodeJS for the webserver. For Item sort, I used tensorflow.js with machine learning and added JavaScript. For the air quality index, I have used open weather API. For AR I have used Echo AR. For speech to text, I used the jQuery text-to-speech plugin which enables the browser to speak aloud using the Web Speech API. For the game, I used Html, CSS, and js.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge that I ran into was managing my time while working on this project. There were so many workshops or other fun events going on that I often found myself deciding between working on this project or attending another workshop/event. In addition, deciding the features to include was a challenge. I had so many different ideas and knew that I wouldn’t be able to implement all of them, and could only choose a few.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud that in just two days, I was able to create a fully functional website, build a slide deck, and record & edit my pitch video. I was also able to learn a lot from this hackathon, using technologies that I had barely touched previously, which I'm proud that I was able to do!. And you can use the website in any devices.

What we learned

I discovered a lot of new information. I'm utilising API for the first time. It's something I've never done before. I'm also using Machine Learning for the first time in a project. In addition, I learned how to integrate voice modulation software. The research for this project opened my eyes that how pollution affects the environment.

What's next for Simply Green

Next, I wanted to include a forest fire map that shows where the forest fire is taking place. And forming a network for like-minded people who are concerned about the environment.
