Many people around the world are not privileged enough to have even the basic amenities. People who have them should try their best to share their happiness with those in need. This idea of sharing happiness is what inspired me.

What it does

It is an android application that asks a user to signup either as a donor or a receiver. Donors can make several posts to share their books, food, clothes and toys. Receivers can choose what type of help they need and then related posts from the donors would be shown to them. This application is created to provide a medium of contact between donors and receivers.

How I built it

I built it in android-studio using java and xml. The database used is Firebase

Challenges I ran into

This was the first time that I was making a full fledged android application. I have never worked with database deeply and this application was based entirely on firebase thus I faced a lot of challenges. I was figuring out a lot if stuff till the end moment and thus I couldn't do much about the UI.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud that I completed the application in time. The MVP is ready. I wanted to make the UI better but time didn't allow me to do so. But my app works and looks decent enough and I am proud of making something that might help all the people in need.

What we learned

I learnt a lot about firebase and database in general. I had not worked in Java for a long time and thus I got a quick revision of Java. I got a better Understanding of how applications work.

What's next for Sharing Happiness

I plan on to improve the UI and add more options. I also want to make a system to connect donors and receivers and help them chat with each other.
