Inspiration
We were inspired by the intense need to screw around—digitally. Nothing captures modern internet sarcasm better than a bolt screwing into a nut while random chaotic text yells at you for being too fast. Because why not?
What it does
When you press the Screw button, the bolt slides smoothly into the nut and then pops back out—just like your sanity during a deadline. Tap it fast enough and the website throws shade at you with lines like “You’re screwing like it’s the end of the world.” It’s an interactive roast session with hardware animation.
How we built it
Using bolt.new, a lot of patience, CSS transitions smoother than pickup lines on LinkedIn, and a hint of JavaScript madness. We fixed the nut, animated the bolt, and let the sarcasm flow via randomized text on rapid button presses.
Challenges we ran into
Making the bolt actually screw into the nut like it wasn’t drunk was a challenge. Also, balancing sarcastic text that’s funny but not too offensive—that’s an art form.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It screws. It mocks you. It looks cool. We made something that combines engineering, satire, and chaos. That’s basically the holy trinity of internet fun.
What we learned
You can turn literal nuts and bolts into an emotional rollercoaster. Also, sarcasm + smooth animation = way more satisfying than expected.
What's next for Screw Bolt
Add a leaderboard for fastest screwers? Maybe let users upload their own sarcastic lines? Or just make it randomly explode when pressed too hard. Who knows—we’re screwed anyway.
